Carlos Zarate is a retired Mexican professional boxer who was born on May 23, 1951, in Mexico City, Mexico. He had a successful career in the ring and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time.
Zarate competed in the bantamweight division and had a professional record of 66 wins, 4 losses, and 0 draws, with 63 of his wins coming by way of knockout. He held the WBC bantamweight title from 1976 to 1979 and the WBA bantamweight title from 1979 to 1980.
Zarate was known for his powerful punches and his ability to knock out his opponents. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994 and was also named the 14th greatest puncher of all time by The Ring magazine.
Today, Zarate is retired from boxing but remains a highly respected figure in the sport. His legacy as one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time continues to inspire young boxers around the world.
